The state government of Melaka is expecting 1.5 million visitors attending the Grand Cultural Festival Melaka River 2019 which will be held from 21st November until 1st December 2019. 

There will be 33 events including five world-class acts during the festival, said Datuk Muhammad Jailani Khamis, the state Exco for Tourism, Cultural and Heritage. 

“There will be a series of cultural extravaganza events including the iconic Parade of Decorated Boat with performances from 10 different countries. 

Among the countries participating are Bulgaria, Mexico, South Korea, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Kazakhstan, Timor Leste and more,” he added. 

He was speaking at the press conference of The Grand Cultural Festival Melaka River 2019 on 7th November at Hotel Tun Fatimah, Melaka. 

The main highlight of the event is on 23rd November, the opening ceremony which will be showcasing the Melaka historical & epic repertoire.  

There will be 1500 percussionists that will be recognized by the Malaysia Book of Record as the largest drum event in Malaysia. 

The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka, Tun Dr. Mohd Khalil Yaakob will be officiating the festival on the night itself. 

The Tourism Minister and other tourism ambassadors are expected to present during the festival. 

Among other events during the festival are the River Muay Thai Championship, Fun Run & Ride, Decorated Trishaw Competition, Kayak Sprint and many more.
